Orange Launches Multi-platform App Shop

European operator Orange announced the introduction of its Orange App Shop, promising subscribers one-click homescreen access to more than 5,000 applications, games, ringtones and wallpapers. The storefront is available across a range of handsets including Java, Android, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices, and includes services like Orange TV, Orange Games and Orange Maps alongside software from third-party developer partners. According to Orange, all App Shop purchases can be added to the subscriber’s existing monthly bill, eliminating pre-registration and credit card use.

Nokia Will Offer Half the Number of Smartphone Models Next Year

As part of its efforts to stand up to tough competition, Nokia plans to offer significantly fewer smartphone models in 2010. This will allow it to give more attention to the ones it does release.

This company released about 20 smartphones in 2009, but will only offer about half that many next year.
